Colimbophobia (from Latin word colimbus, "swimming pool") is the fear of swimming pool. This fear is usually suffered only by children, caused by negative experiences while in swimming pool, like almost getting drowned or accidentally falling into the water with the clothes on. Sufferers would refuse to go in the pool, and they fear it most intensely during the summer. The childhood fear usually subsides when they grow up. Teenagers can also suffer colimbophobia caused mainly by going to the high school pool, caused by being splashed constantly or getting injured in a crowded pool playing water sports, or even the quality of the water like being too cold or acidic.
