Encavmaphobia is the fear of getting burned, a branch of traumatophobia (fear of injury). The fear develops when a person gets burned. As a result, sufferers would stay away from real hot and scalding things, such as fire, frying foods and boiling water. When a cooker develops the fear, the person would stop cooking and won't go near cooking appliances. Like those who suffer from mageirocophobia.

Sufferers would panic when a person gets a burn. An encavmaphobe would avoid taking hot shower and avoid using hot water. In addition since not all burns are caused by heat or steam, encavmaphobes would avoid using chemicals and electrical appliances while staying out of the sun.

Encavmaphobia is often treated using same methods as the parent phobia, traumatophobia, like CBT and hypnotherapy.
