Encavmaphobia is the fear of getting burned, a branch of traumatophobia (fear of injury). The fear develop when a person got burned. As a result, sufferers would stay away from real hot and scalding things, such as fire, frying foods and boiling water. When a cooker develops the fear, a person would stop cooking and not even go near the area where it is cooking, like the ones who is suffering mageirocophobia.

Sufferers would panic when a person gets a burn. An encavmaphobe would avoid taking hot shower and avoid using hot water. In addition since not all burns are caused by heat or steam, encavmaphobes would avoid using chemicals and electrical appliances while staying out of the sun.

Encavmaphobia is often treated using same methods as the parent phobia, traumatophobia, like CBT and hypnotherapy.
