Hurricane

Cyclonophobia is the intense fear of tropical cyclones – hurricanes, typhoons, and cyclones. The fear tends to be suffer by people living on the coasts, especially in lower latitudes. Those people tend to watch the weather all the time like many other weather phobias. When a hurricane is heading their way, sufferers would always evacuate the area before most others and would travel further from the coast than many other evacuees, like hundreds of miles from it. One way to treat cyclonophobia is to move their residence inland. Medically, it can most commonly be treated using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

Cyclonophobia is a separate term for lilapsophobia, which is fear of tornadoes and tropical cyclones. See turbophobia for fear of tornadoes.
