Jadoo TV is an Android TV box that is focused on South Asian TV. It’s Website is located at https://jadootv.com/. It’s former slogans are “Connecting you to you culture” (Jadoo 4) and “Entertainment gateway to the world” (Jadoo 2)

History[]

Original Jadoo[]

The Original Jadoo, or the Jadoo 1, was the debut of Jadoo TV. Not much is known about the Jadoo 1. This is an unboxing Video of the original Jadoo. The Jadoo 1 has a list based menu, like the original Apple TV.

Jadoo 2[]

Keeping most of the same stuff as the original, the Jadoo 2 has an upgraded remote, and better load time as the original. Not much is known about Jadoo 2 either.

Jadoo 3[]

Costing $249, Jadoo 3 introduced a grid-like interface to Jadoo boxes. Jadoo 3 boxes had a software “time bomb” inside them.[2] It added content from Sri Lanka and Nepal. It included full 1080p HD support. The remote got its biggest update yet. 24 new channels were added. It introduced JadooPlus, TV and Movies exclusive to Jadoo Boxes, MyJadoo, a service that allows users to stream personal content, and JadooApps, Which were unofficial apps on Jadoo, as Jadoo Boxes are unpopular, and they did not have android. [3] Load time was upgraded. Favorites could now be marked.

Jadoo 4[]

Introducing Android Jellybean (Android KitKat in newer boxes) , Quad-Core, an air mouse, and a short lived Jadoo 4 Stick, The Jadoo 4 is the second most popular Jadoo today. It introduced Miracast support, Channel Recall, a simpler UI, and VOD. It got Built-in WiFi Support. Load time was upgraded. Remote also changed to fit in with the android operating system. It also got a recently played channels list, It can switch channels directly by numbers, and has browsing support, as it runs android.[4] VPN support was added.

Problems[]

  • Updates for system apps and YouTube took a long time and were forced, while whole system updates were optional.
  • Android is not secure and can get viruses.
Modern Problems[]

These problems happen nowadays, after the Jadoo 5

  • Modern App Updates overwhelm the Jadoo and Crash the app
  • Some Jadoo Boxes get “Grey Screen Of Death”, which is an alternate loading screen that has a grey background with the Jadoo logo and says “Loading”. What makes this a problem is sometimes the box requires a reboot to get rid of the screen.

Jadoo 4 Stick[]

The Jadoo 4 stick was an attempt to compete with the Roku Streaming Stick and be a Portable Jadoo, for travelers who go to hotels a lot. It got discontinued for unspecified reasons, probably due to lack of sales or economic reasons.[5]

Jadoo 5[]

Jadoo 5 is the latest Jadoo to date and got many new features. The warranty was expanded to 2 Years, customers were given 1 year of the Jadoo TV app, 2 Years of service fee was included and the quality was upgraded to 4K (2160p), 2GB DDR, and a screen mirror app named “JadooCast” was added along with AirPlay Support. My Photoframe replaced MyJadoo, with more features including Facebook, Instagram, and Flikr support, My Music was added with Amazon Music, Pandora, Saavn and Spotify support, and Live News feeds along with Daily Horoscopes were added. A Preferred Content Option was added along with a new simpler UI, Android Marshmallow, and free Audio and Video calling via Facebook Messenger[6]

Problems[]

  • Clicking the “Reset” Button on the bottom would brick the Jadoo 5. In rare occurrences, the Jadoo would work, not being reset at all.
