Mushroom

Agaricus bisporus, commonly known as the cultivated mushroom.

Mycophobia (from Latin myco, "fungus") is the fear of mushrooms, (note the word origin as mushrooms are fungi) though a fear of mold and/or spores is also very common. The most common cause of mycophobia is that some mushrooms can be poisonous if consumed. People who fear mushrooms are likely to avoid eating mushrooms as well as not touch mushrooms. Eating or even touching mushrooms would result in symptoms like sweating, nervousness, elevated body temperatures and heart rates. Some people may get this fear from playing the popular video game, Super Mario Bros., though due to the mushrooms being stylized, this may not affect others. Some may also fear fungi because of the idea that their spores would attach onto them and start controlling them.
