Nuclear explosion

Nucleomituphobia is the fear of nuclear weapons. Patients with this phobia would prepare a bomb shelter and feel very worry that a person would be obliterated by a nuclear bomb. Most sufferers would also worry that a nuclear war may start at any time that would lead to global apocalypse. They will show symptoms of anxiety including palpitations, shortness of breath, tremors, obsessive thoughts, and feeling detached from reality. Treatment includes psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Medications for anxiety may be given to those with severe debilitating symptoms.

The first cases of nucleomituphobia was in the 1940s when atomic bomb was dropped in Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Cases of nucleomituphobia peaked in the 1950s and '60s and now the number of people with nucleomituphobia is rising.
