Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia (from the Greek word phasma, meaning "ghost", and phobos, "fear") is the morbid fear of ghosts. Phasmaphobia is closely related to Spectophobia (the fear of mirrors or reflection) because of the close relation of mirrors and spirits. Many legends and ghost stories suggest or flat out say that ghosts are able to possess mirrors. One of the most common or well known legends involving the ghost/mirror relation is that of Bloody Mary. These legends are common among many cultures because ghosts are deceased people who are often dangerous. Though the phobia is commonly suffered by children, when they first learn about ghosts, adults commonly suffer from phasmophobia as well, especially after learning reports of people being haunted by ghosts. Sufferers who believe in ghosts would feel very worried that ghosts may attack them. Sufferers would not want to be alone while not be in the dark.

The fear is commonly portrayed in many novels, films, ghost stories, comics, cartoons and video games. This fuels the phobia in some and even introduces it to others. In Scooby Doo, Shaggy and Scooby are said to be phasmophobic, but all the ghosts portrayed in the series are human criminals masqueraded as ghosts. In Luigi's Mansion, Luigi was also phasmophobic, but still able to encounter and catch ghosts via vacuum cleaner, meanwhile the game call "phasmophobia" gives the user phasmophobia
