Phobia is a general term for an irrational fear of anything. This word is used as a suffix for the end of a phobia. For example, Arachnophobia is the fear of spiders (arachno, spider + phobia). Phobia's etymology is from the greek Phobos, which means fear. They are antonymic to suffixes -phil-.
