Soupaphobia is the fear of soup. This fear is frequently seen exhibited in Todoroki from the anime and manga series My Hero Academia.
Common causes of soupaphobia include: getting soup poured on the face (more commonly the left side), allergies to soup, hating soup, and vivid nightmares. However, scientists have recently discovered that 73% of people with soupaphobia are traumatized children, so perhaps that plays a role in this horrible yet hilarious fear. Some could say this research is biased however, because 73% of the children that were researched were Todoroki, and the other 27% researched were rocks. This is important because Todorokis are 359% more likely to be traumatized than rocks are, and there are more documented individuals with soupaphobia that were not included in the study.
Cures and Treatments: The cures to soupaphobia are highly debated in the soupaphobologist community, and there is very little research on the side effects of these treatments. As such, it is suggested for readers suffering from soupaphobia to try the following treatments immediately and tell me your results.
The oldest of these treatments was discovered in August, 4687, and is preformed by keeping soupaphobic patients away from hot soups. With this method, symptoms have been shown to be completely eradicated. The treatment seems to have backfired for some individuals, however, as schizophrenic episodes in which the patients hallucinate soups have been reported. “There was soup everywhere, even in places where soup just can’t be,” reports Dwayne Johnson, a survivor of one of these soupaphobic episodes. These episodes of soupaphobia are theorized to be caused by soupaphobia. This has led many researchers to pursue the opposite direction in curing soupaphobia, by force feeding patients lobster bisque until they’re cured. This method has proven successful, but is also very expensive and painstaking, as patients will have to fly to a McDonald’s in California to be treated. “Sir, I don’t have soupaphobia, and I’m not going to eat that soup in your shoe,” reports Chris Rock, who had received treatment with glowing results.
